Recipes for dynamic snippets

A dynamic snippet is a bubble you create with the Dynamic kind and an https:// URL. Tapping it fetches that URL and inserts whatever comes back as text — or, with Pick what to insert…, just the one value you chose. That is the whole mechanism, so anything that can serve a line of text works.

Pick by how much you want to set up:

What the app expects

• https:// only.
• The response body is inserted as-is, on every tier. Return plain text, not HTML or JSON, unless you want that inserted literally — or use Pick what to insert… to extract one value.
• 4 second timeout. If the fetch fails, the URL itself is inserted instead.
• No cookies are sent. If your endpoint needs an API key or a proxy, set them in Setup → Advanced (iOS 1.3 / Android 1.2 and later); they apply to every dynamic snippet.

Tips

• Set Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8.
• Trim trailing newlines unless you want them inserted.
• Keep the URL secret if the content is: anyone with the URL can fetch it.
